I'm an explorer of life, learning and trying new things all the time. A scientist by training , asking questions and finding answers in unknown places.

My current research deals with the wide array of pests that farmers face and the challenges that go along with growing food. I try to find alternatives for pesticides so that we aren't so dependent on chemicals that are harmful to the environment and our health. My work involves asking questions and see what's most relevant today. I teach courses in permaculture and ecological gardening, trying to bring different voices together from all arenas to find solutions together.

My previous research took me on early morning adventures to check the dew on plants in the desert. I was exploring the survival of plants in the desert on limited water supplies like dew alone.  To find out which water the desert plants were using I worked in UC Berkeley labs which were looking at  fog in Redwood trees using stable isotope tracking.
